Peer Tutoring
Reeg ARC
At Webster University, I was a Peer Tutor in College Algebra for two semesters. I worked with students to help them succeed in their math courses. I made appointments with students, attended several training sessions to improve my skills in tutoring, and learned more about organization in a work environment.
Reflection
During this role, I improved myself and my skills as a leader. I was able to enhance my communication skills through my appointments with students, using problem solving and decision making to conduct successful tutoring sessions. Being able to help students improve themselves was the highlight of this position, as well as making connections with Reeg ARC staff members.

I believe that it is important for peer tutoring to be an option to college students. Having a fellow student work with you is a lot less intimidating than working with a professor. It is also beneficial to have an outside perspective with a student who previously took the same course. So, having peer tutoring be available for students is greatly important to me.

What I learned from taking this position will stay with me for years to come. Getting work experience while in college was greatly beneficial to me as it allowed me to improve my leadership skills so that I can apply those skills to my work as a game designer in the future.
